The upsetting thing is that this is someone Philadelphia knows and has accepted into its circle. Over the past few years, the majority of conflicts, muggings, attacks, etc that have shown up in the news in Kensington, Fishtown, and Northern Liberties have been with perpetrators outside of the growing circle of Philly alternatives. This is different. He has walked through our doorways and joined us at our bars. There are no strangers here. It’s truly disgusting to witness an alternative group turning in on and attacking itself. As an alternative community, we need to be better than that. We need to be supportive of each other. Best thing for anyone to do is call this number if they have any information, or see him around. It would be the best thing for Mike too, since he is the key suspect and has some explaining to do, and honestly he probably is in need of some help himself.

Posted this earlier because I believe it is important to share this information. I don’t know the women personally involved but I think it is terrible what has happened to them. Going out to a nightclub, walking down the street, etc. — none of this should ever make us feel unsafe.
People are working with the proper authorities to deal with this individual. If you have information to share, use the Philadelphia Police Department’s “tips” hotline (215-686-8477).
The venue where the assault took place has yet to release a public statement, and has been removing posts to their Facebook wall that reference the incident.
